Jimmy Hornet's founder (Anthea Palmer) sold a Melbourne based venue in 2014 and made the bold decision to move to the Land of the Red Dragon. Determined to open a Live Music Venue and create a Tour of the region, she successfully registered a Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise in China (a process not for the faint-hearted) and opened Jimmy Hornet Zhongshan in September 2016.
For three years (2016-2018) Jimmy Hornet Zhongshan hosted International performances by Musicians from Australia, the USA, Italy, Brazil, and Argentina. It also ran a House Jazz Band every Thursday night and introduced Latin Jazz on Tuesdays.

ABOUT ZHONGSHAN
Jimmy Hornet was located in beautiful Zhongshan, on the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong province. It is geographically connected with Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong province. From Zhongshan, Hong Kong is reachable by ferry in just ninety minutes and Macau by bus in 60 minutes.
Zhongshan is located in a subtropical humid zone with an annual average temperature around 23°C and average humidity of 82%.
Zhongshan is the birthplace of Sun Yat-Sen, the great forerunner of Chinese democratic revolution. The city is also a famous ancestral homeland for overseas Chinese and is renowned for its abundant flowers and fragrance.
Zhongshan is also famous for its folk songs. A particular custom involves locals taking to the rivers in boats and singing together at harvest time. These "salty songs" have been sung in the area for more than 300 years and have been passed down orally from generation to generation.
The Xiaolan chrysanthemum feast is another custom of note in the region. When chrysanthemums are in full bloom, flower lovers gather to admire the blossoms whilst drinking wine with friends. Locals have developed a taste for edible chrysanthemums, believing it a healthy foodstuff, eating differently prepared varieties of the flower daily.
The nearest Airports to Zhongshan are Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Macau, reachable in 30 minutes by train. It is also easy to access the Hong Kong International Airport by a 60 minute ferry ride.
