I’m determined to use the word “multifarious” because I like it so much and because it describes the intrepid curation of art, design, music and other guff that is Jimmy Hornet.
My left and right brain are often at odds. The result is that although I am intrinsically creative, I fall into organising artistic endeavours, rather than producing them. Jimmy Hornet allows me to corral and cajole, the artistic talent of others.
In 2020 I will be opening an emporium in Melbourne. There you will be able to shop, eat, drink, and listen to live music. Until then I will be building the brand, selecting fabulous pieces, collaborating with creative folk, and selling online.
Welcome to the bizarre bazaar that is Jimmy Hornet.
Anthea Palmer (Founder)
Solid as a rock…chick! Singer and song writer for the original rock band “Drama Queen.” Recorded two independent EPs, and worked alongside many other fabulous Australian musicians.
Founded Watch Tower Studio and Art Gallery in South Melbourne. An ever-changing collection of Paintings, Photography, Textiles, and Sculpture.
Founded “The Chandelier Room,” a Live Music Venue focused on Singer-Songwriters and the performance of original music.
Opened the first Jimmy Hornet, a small retail outlet situated within the venue and stocking musical equipment, accessories, vintage clothing, art, and design.
Faced with so many talented but disillusioned Artists, Anthea founded Sound Music Business as a vehicle to coach musicians in business practice.
Opened the first Jimmy Hornet venue in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, China. Introduced more than twenty international Artists to China and created a community for local musical talent.
Anthea (and therefore Jimmy Hornet) returned to Australia in July 2019. The online shop is now LIVE and the blog has been expanded to include Music, Art, Design and Places of interest.
The emporium is scheduled to open May 2020 in Richmond (Melbourne). It will include a live music stage, bar and restaurant with a twist, alongside an Art and Design retail gallery.
