Humble Beginnings
The Chandelier Room in Melbourne, Australia held a popular Open Mic event for Singer-Songwriters every Sunday afternoon from 2011 to 2014.
One particular Sunday, whilst Anthea Palmer (Jimmy Hornet Founder) was busy serving customers, she noticed a strange quiet had come over the venue. She walked out of the bar area and into the venue to find a young hipster on the stage. Low crutch baggy pants, baseball cap atop messy hair, and a musical style so unique that the audience fell silent.
Jamie MacDowell was an acrobat in a traveling circus when he decided to turn his hand to music. The Chandelier Room Open Mic was his first musical performance as a solo singer-songwriter in front of a real audience.
Anthea has been a strong supporter of Jamie’s (now illustrious) career ever since. “I’ve spent over two decades in the music industry and it’s rare to be so immediately struck by the talent of an individual. Jamie MacDowell is one such individual.”

Although a seasoned Singer-Songwriter and performer in his own (solo) right, Jamie is also one half of the acclaimed duo – Jamie MacDowell and Tom Thum.
The two are the perfect musical match: Jamie’s brand of heartfelt songwriting and melodic fingerwork is elevated when combined with Tom’s heavy hitting, world-class beatboxing.
