MBAS WOMEN’N’BLUES ATTENDEES PRESENT A TRIBUTE TO MEMPHIS MINNIE.

Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society (MBAS) ran a Women’N’Blues program in early 2021. The program is for women of all ages who wish to learn more about Blues Music.

The Coordinator of the program was noted Singer/Songwriter Andrea Marr.

Some of the attendees have come together to present a Tribute Night to one of the iconic female Blues performers – Memphis Minnie.

Memphis Minnie (Lizzie Douglas), was a blues guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter whose recording career lasted for over three decades. She recorded around 200 songs, some of the best-known being “Bumble Bee”, “Nothing in Rambling”, and “Me and My Chauffeur Blues”. She was active in the period from late 1920s to late 1950s.

The performers on the night will be:

Kaliopi – guitar/vocals

Jess Murphy – vocals

Sylvie Lieber – bass

Michelle Talledo – vocals

Louise Christiansen – vocals

Linda Stainton – vocals/harmonica

Tanya Catelli – guitar

and guest drummer – Robert B Dillon
