The following timeline demonstrates how all roads led to Jimmy Hornet –  Anthea Palmer (Founder)


Singer and songwriter for original rock band “Drama Queen.” Played hundreds of gigs, recorded two independent EPs and worked alongside many fabulous Australian musicians and industry bods.

Founded Watch Tower Studio in South Melbourne. An ever-changing gallery of paintings, photography, textiles, and sculpture. Supporting the careers of many local, visual Artists and Designers

Career Timeline


Founded The Chandelier Room (Live Music Venue) which focused on singer-songwriters and original bands, hosted hundreds of performances and launched many esteemed careers.

Coached over two hundred teenaged musicians at Melbourne Rock School (2009 to 2015). This school holiday program covered musicianship, stage performance, songwriting and music industry knowledge.

Opened the first Jimmy Hornet, a small retail outlet situated within The Chandelier Room complex. It stocked musical equipment, accessories, vintage clothing, art, and design pieces.

Faced with so many talented but disillusioned Artists, Anthea founded Sound Music Business as a vehicle to coach musicians in business practice.

Opened Jimmy Hornet (Music Venue) in Zhongshan, CHINA. Introduced more than twenty International Artists to China, and created a community of local musicians.

Back in Australia, the Jimmy Hornet Online Shop was launched, featuring a multifarious curation of Art and Design.

Jimmy Hornet Richmond (Melbourne) opened its doors in February 2020 as an Intimate Music Bistro comprising a gallery of Art and Design.
